The Corinda Collection’s Masters of Jazz Summer Concert Series returns, presenting Hobart’s great musicians playing the music of their heroes with all the roses in full bloom in our garden.
Drawing inspiration from the musical landscape of 1930s Paris, Django’s Tiger is set to deliver a diverse repertoire of Parisian swing and early European jazz spanning the years from the 1910s to the 1930s, paying homage to the iconic Hot Club of France style. This enchanting musical journey features compositions by a notable roster of artists including Henri Crolla, Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli, Romane, Ion Ivanovici, Vincent Rose, Joe Myrow, Irving Berlin, Juan Tizol, Matelo Ferret, Harry Akst, Fats Waller, Toni Murena, and many more.
The selection of these timeless melodies has been carefully curated to capture the vibrant street and café ambiance of Montmartre in Paris during the ‘Belle Epoque’ era. This bygone period was characterized by an atmosphere of optimism, regional harmony, economic prosperity, and a surge in technological, scientific, and cultural advancements. During this cultural renaissance, France’s creative and artistic landscape thrived, witnessing the emergence of numerous literary, musical, theatrical, and visual masterpieces that earned widespread acclaim.
It’s worth noting that luminaries such as Monet, Renoir, Degas, Picasso, and Van Gogh would have reveled in the captivating sounds of this music while they embarked on their artistic adventures.
