Hettie Crisp’s Room
“I love the view of the little courtyard with its antique pots and urns and pretty, nodding fuschias just outside”
– Jane, guest
Hettie Crisp, Basil’s elder daughter, was Julian’s grandmother. In the 1960s gave up city life to take over and run a dairy farm just south of Kingston. During the great Tasmanian bushfires of 1967 she saved the farm by standing outside with a hosepipe, saturating the nearby greenery, the farmhouse and the cattle sheds while the fire and its aftermath raced through.
